Site Information : Christmas Island  (Kiritimati), Kiribati
Cooperative Institution : NASDA (National Space Development Agency of Japan)

The Ocean Hemisphere Project geomagnetic station is located in NASDA downrange station in Christmas Island, and the observations are maintained by the assistance of people from NASDA and related institutions/companies.   We would like thank NASDA for its kind cooperation for our geomagnetic field observations.

The followings are the photos from Christmas Island.

A house in NASDA downrange station.  Controlling unit of
the OHP magnetometers are installed in the house.

The controlling unit of the magnetometers.  The measurement
is controlled by a palm-top computer, and  the data are stored
in a zip-disk unit.

A view of the observation site.    Magnetometers and
the site for absolute measurements are bounded by
non-magnetic tubes (white structures in the photo).
The fluxgate magnetometer is innstalled underground
(near-side) and the proton sensor can be seen in the right.
The absolute measurements are performed in the bound
in the leftside in the photo.

A view in the downrange station of NASDA.  The person with
a Santa Claus cap is Mr. S. Koyama of Yatsugatake
Geoelectromagnetic Observatory of the Earthquake
Research Institute.   Absolute measurements at Christmas
Island in 1998 and 2000 are made by Mr. Koyama and H. Shimizu.
